[11/16(Fr) => Antarctica (McMurdo Station)]
3:30AM Got to the airport. 6-11AM I'm now on the C-17 jet-powered cargo aircraft with ~30 others on our way from New Zealand to Antarctica (~5 hours). Background is what I saw from the aircraft as we reached the continent.
11AM Landed. -9°C. Not cold at all! The mountains are pretty... Airfield on the ice in the background. This is the truck that took us from the landing area to the station.

What are you eating?
=) I went to the galley for lunch, but most no-meat things said "contains diary", so i had very little options for food now that I've been trying to decline milk/egg products since I learned about cows and chickens at a workshop in September. I remember the South Pole station has better food, but i'm not sure if i should stay vegan here...

Skua bird, just hanging out around on the station. 10PM I slept on top of the blanket so that the linens don't need to be washed just for a single-night use. I slept in my Antarctic gear to stay warm :)
This year, I'll try without taking the altitude sickness prevention pills -- I'll just be sure to drink a lot of water!
