Temperature map of the Cosmic Microwave Background near the
star Gamma Ursa Minoris (GUM) calculated from MAX data. The z axis
gives temperature in micro-Kelvin (CMB mean temperature of 2.726
degrees Kelvin subtracted). The x and y axes are right ascension and
declination in degrees. The MAX experiment measures a map of spatial
"temperature differences" of the CMB, which closely correspond to the
spatial derivative of the temperature. This temperature map was made
by effectively integrating the temperature difference map using the
"maximum entropy" method. This map is from White & Bunn (ApJ 1995).
