Desk Top Stars: Introduction

Astronomers use a wide variety of tools and concepts to try and understand the Universe. Our goal today is to do some simple, fun experiments which will introduce some of these tools and concepts. We also want to discover how to answer questions like: How old is the Universe? How far away is a galaxy? And what are stars made of?
